For the past few days I haven't been writing, first because I was sick. And then yesterday because non of the series of that day were worth writing about. I watched all the episodes but nothing made me excited to write about. Except for one. Warehouse 13. I still remember back in the day when I still lived in Belgium that Warehouse 13 came on Prime (paid TV channel) in 2010. It was on a rainy Saturday afternoon in November when we discovered Warehouse 13 promoted as new series.
My ex and I decided to try it out and in the evening we had to go to a party but we almost came to late because we both were drawn into the series and had forgotten time.
Now almost 5 years later (with about a month off) I am watching the entire series again.
The last few years a lot of new series have seen the light, but there is a horrible trend going on in america where good series are put on the shelf after only one season. So I need something to fill the hours of the day and I have been going through a lot of old series lately. And now I chose Warehouse 13.
And I must say, I had forgotten how much I actually loved this series. And miss it. I still find the crossover with Eureka weird. And then there is the funny fact that several actors from Eureka were in Warehouse 13 season 1 as random characters, before in Season 2 they noticed the potential of a cross over. But the crossover between those two series. I never got it, and I don't think I'll ever get it. In my opinion a crossover with Sanctuary would have been a lot better.
What makes Warehouse 13 so good is the the bond between the characters, there is a bond of true family, they care for each other and would do anything to help each other. Even when someone has screwed up many, many times. There is a lot of action in the series, but not an episode goes by that you don't laugh.
Pete Lattimer (played by Eddie McClintock) always brings a smile where ever he goes. Artie Nielsen (played by Saul Rubinek), then again, is more like a cuddly, slightly grumpy teddy bear. Leena,(played by Genelle Williams) who runs the "B&B" where they all live, is a bit the mother of the group. I say a bit because Myka Bering (played by Joanne Kelly) is the heart and soul of the group. She keeps the whole group together. At the end of season 2 Myka doubts herself and decides to quit, in the beginning of season 3 you can see that the group is lost without her.
Next to them the family isn't complete with Claudia Donovan (played by Allison Scagliotti) and Steve "Jinxy" Jinks (played by Aaron Ashmore). Claudia brings the youth aspect, while Jinxy represents the LGBT community.
Ooh and I almost forgot. There is also Mrs Frederic (played by CCH Pounder) the scary warehouse caretaker.
Together this makes the perfect group to get the job done.
There is somewhat of a story line in this series, but if you miss an episode, you will not have missed much between the characters. Every episode has its own subject. Every episode also follows the same pattern somewhat. Myka and Pete get send somewhere to get an artifact, while Artie and Claudia stay in the Warehouse for support. Later on this evolves when Jinxy enters the series. He gets paired with Claudia. Leena is more a background character that only pops up sporadically.
If you are looking for a series to binge watch. You should definitely consider this series. Its airy, but intriguing. I can't really compare it to other series. It's very much a unique concept.

I don't know why but at first I was a bit reluctantly to watch Alpha's. I remember that someone told me that that was not a series for me. But my boyfriend kept telling me that I should give it a try. So one day, when I had finished another batch of series I decided to give Alpha's a try. That was just before the second season was about to come out. When I start watching a series I judge on 6 things.
Dialog, how it's filmed, storyline, music - that can be in choice or in usage towards a certain moment - and if appropriate how historically correct it is.

The Dialogs were good. They were not too long, not to short, they were modern and you never had a problem understanding what they were talking about. Of course you will always love that one character more because he sounds funnier, his dialogs are more catchy. And I don't know about you, but with Gary Bell (Ryan Cartwright) I always had that mother feeling and wanted him to keep him out of the danger. He looks so damn frail.
But maybe that is because it's so nicely filmed. You really get pulled into the series and it feels real enough.

I really enjoyed the storyline from Alpha's. Just normal people with special powers. It reminded me strongly of Heroes. But while in Heroes it was all about saving the world, this series had a more police flavor to it.
The Storyline was very straightforward and there were not so many twists in there and you had no problem following what was going on.
The only real sad part about Alpha's is that they cancelled it after two seasons (rarara it's SyFy ;-) ) and they ended with a major cliffhanger. But at the other hand now you can all sow an own ending to it, happy or not, I will leave that to you.

I know that I said before that I look at six points. So far there were 3, but there is not much to say about the choice of music. Everything was well placed. And the series is placed in present day setting so it's not relevant to talk about historically correctness.
I hope this review was helpful for you and feel free to add your own comments underneath. (Keep in mind that this is one of my first reviews ever ;-) )
