The Shannara Chronicles

First of all, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you enjoyed the holidays and that you are just like me now ready to start a new season of series.
The kick of the year I thought I'd start with The Shannara Chronicles.

**CAUTION** SPOILER ALERT This entry contains spoilers of The Shannara Chronicles E01-02 S01

Ever since the news broke in December 2013 that MTV was planning on making a fantasy series called The Shannara Chronicles I have waiting on the tip of my chair for it to come out. Regularly checking to see if there was any news online. Hoping I hadn't missed the start by accident. I knew that the series would be based on a book, but since I hadn't read it yet I decided to not start reading it yet because I wanted to see if I could get enchanted by the series alone. I am definitely planning to read the books later on though.

I must say, that 2 years waiting, made that I had very high expectations, I had seen some trailers and some making offs and in every article I read about it, there was high praise. And more often than not, when critics give high praise, it is totally not going to be  as good as they say. This time though... It was everything I had expected!

Ok let's talk characters shal we?
First, the person it should be all about, or at least that is what I think. Wil Ohmsford (Austin Butler). I don't know if it was just me, but I had the feeling that Austin Butler wasn't hundred percent sure of his performance yet. Even though for his young age he already has done quite a bit of acting, in the beginning it all felt a bit to forced for me, not natural at all. Or maybe he was just nervous because he had to stand next to an Icon like Manu Bennett. The further the double episode went the less it became visible, but I still don't know how I really feel about this character. But I am not going to draw any conclusions and just look forward to see the next episodes.

Will Ohmsford played by Austin Butler

Then we have Amberle Elessedil (Poppy Drayton) the cute and agile Elf. Who believes that because she broke the rules and became one of the Chosen that this is why the tree is dieing. I'm pretty sure it wasn't her fault, but I guess we'll have to see more to find that out. I must say she puts down quite the performance. I had never heard of her before, but she will not be a face I will soon forget.

And then the Gandalf of the group Allanon (Manu Bennett) brings the trio together to safe the world from demons that are about to plague the world and make sure that the tree can be reborn. Manu Bennett is for me an Icon. Apparently I should have seen him before in Xena, but I have my first recollection of him from Spartacus and from then on, I have been following his carreer closely. He is the one that puts the series where it is. His acting is just outstanding and makes it interesting to watch. He always gives himself fully when he plays a role and you can see that. You do not think Oh look, its Crixus or Slade Wilson, no, you see Allanon, you feel Allanon. If I haven't convinced you yet to watch this series, he should be reason enough to try it out anyways.

Even though the series is more than just Manu Bennett. The decors are epic, the story flows like you'd watch a movie like Lord of The Rings, the story on itself is also very intriguing, even though in my opinion, they could have ditched a few of the romance scenes because those were a bit less. The music is really pulling you in and the special effects are of the best quality.
It is really something everyone should check out. MTV delivered what they had promised.

I am going to cut it here, I could go on for hours, but the pain in my arm does not allow that.

The Big Bang Theory

Yesterday and today I've had several "Whaaaaaaat" moments. Yesterday and today mostly about the horrors that happened last night in Paris. And first and foremost before I write my blog of today I want to extend my condolences to the families and the friends of the victims. It is sad that something like this keeps happening.

So to lighten the mood a bit tonight I watched The Big Bang Theory of earlier this week. Last week the episode ended with Sheldon witnessing Amy kissing another man. And you could visibly see his heart shattering in front of our very eyes.
So when that guy ended up being a major Sheldon fan I couldn't just stop myself from grinning. This was exactly what Amy deserved in my opinion. I'm sorry Amy, but I will always be on #TeamSheldon.

TBBT 9x08 - Amy on a date with Dave, the number one fan of Sheldon apparently

And then Sheldon decided to start a scavenger hunt to find a new girlfriend. The whole episode we waited and waited, looking forward to see. Here at home we were putting bets on who it could be. My fiance was convinced that Leslie Winkle would show up. I thought that maybe one of those crazy fangirls of Sheldon we saw in the begin years of TBBT would be at the door. But instead at the end a girl that had some quite a bit of Penny features showed up on the door.

TBBT 9x08 - Sheldon meets girl from scavenger hunt

She had everything a guy could dream of. She was so beautiful, and she was smart, had beautiful eyes, lovely voice, and she totally understood Sheldon's fantasy world. And what does mister do? He freaking closes the door on her. I literally sat there in my chair, slack jawed, hands up in the air, staring at the TV. I just couldn't believe it. Of course I still believe that by the end of this season Sheldon and Amy will be back together, that doesn't mean that he couldn't have gotten this girlfriend to make Amy jealous and make her see what she was missing. I would have totally okay with this. But he just closed the door. Just like that... Because she was too LATE. really... Doesn't he get that the elevator doesn't work...
Oh man... I think I'm still in shock.

Anyways, let me know what you think down below and don't be a stranger, talk to you later

Keeping up with The Kardashians & I am Cait

Hi everyone, it's been a while, but I have been bingewatching Keeping up with The Kardashians and I am Cait. But I finished last night, so now I'm back.

First of all,
I had never expected to write about this realityshow. I actually do not like realityshows, because they do not feel real to me. But I had my own reason to sit through 10 seasons of KUPWTK :)
A few months ago I found out that someone close to me is struggling with similar issues as the then Bruce Jenner. I was in complete unknown territory and since I'm the only person who knows I embarked on a journey to discover everything I could about this. And since Bruce/Caitlyn was everywhere in the media, I decided to start at the beginning and I got my hands on the whole series of KUPWTK. All throughout the first 9 seasons I searched for clues. Hoping that I might catch a detail of behaviour that would explain all this. But it didn't. Then ofcourse Halfway season 10 all came out, and the docu serie about Cait's transformation came out as well.
My fiance asked me why had I bothered watching all 10 seasons if I what I was looking for was just in the end. I explained that I had thought about that myself, and came to the conclusion if I hadn't watched from the beginning I would have judged the way they were acting towards Cait so hard. But by watching from the beginning I grew to have a better understanding on how the interrelationships worked.
Ofcourse I do understand that what they show on the show has a certain narrative and we don't see everything. They only show us what they want us to see. But it all made sense when I watched I am Cait.

I applaud Kim and Kanye for being so openminded. The two people that you'd expect to be to most superficial if you believe everything the tabloids write are the ones with the biggest hearts. While the rest were really struggling with all this, they just said "Be Yourself!" I found that the most beautiful thing that could have been said.

I don't want to talk about all the other things that went on on the show even though just like everyone I have an opinion. I am only writing this because I want to thank both shows of giving me a better understanding into this issue. So I can help my friend better. I actually have learned a lot and I would have never thought that to be possible from shows like these.

THANK YOU

Supernatural

So I haven't written much in the last few days, mostly because, well, there is nothing interesting much on tv. There was the start of the last season of Da Vinci's demons, and I kinda was planning to write about that, but the first episode was so disappointing that I didn't bother. I haven't watched the rest yet though, so I might still change my mind.
And then the second reason why I haven't been writing, I was able to get my hands on the first 9 seasons of Keeping up with the Kardashians. I never watched that before, but with the whole Bruce going to Caithe debate I wanted to try and figure out if there were signs before. I'm now at season 7.
And still haven't picked up on the signs.

**CAUTION** SPOILER ALERT This entry contains spoilers of Supernatural 11x04

But let's get on topic. So every night, my fiance picks out an episode we watch for dinner. On Monday that's mostly The Simpsons, on Tuesday The Big Bang Theory, on Wednesday Gotham, on Thursday Supernatural, on Friday The Originals, and in the weekend  depends on what we have left from the week and otherwise it's from an older series we are rewatching. At the  moment that is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

So but we're Thursday. We are all set with our food in front of the TV and I press play. The beginning of the episode feels like a commercial for Impala to me. I'm like "What a weird episode start." But somehow that gets us more intrigued.

Supernatural 11x04 - A bloody knife

Then the next thing we see is The impala in blood, Dean cuffed in the backseat seemingly unconscious and a bloody knife. My fiance says "Oi, well that doesn't look good." And he asks me "Is this a finale episode or something? That can't be possible right?" This is definitely not a season ending, but it does give a bit of a strange vibe, right of the bat.

And then immediately we get to see the guys washing the car, euhm confusion much? This whole episode has a strange vibe. But the further we advance in the story the more I start to like it. To us this feels more like in the begin years. What is good, because In my opinion the series was at its best before the whole angel crap. No offense to Castiel (played by Misha Collins) because Supernatural wouldn't be the same without him, but the rest of the angel stuff was never as good as they thought.

Supernatural 11x04 - The Winchesters meeting with the policeman

So after Sam hooking up and Dean partying all night, they meet up with a policeman, and I immediately say "He's going to be the werewolf/vampire, you'll see" Hahaha I called it! That was so obvious! And I had such a laugh when the head got cut off and it was still alive.
So apparently these were some kind of ghoul creatures that you can only kill by reminding them they are dead. And you do that by putting a penny in their mouth and then chopping of their head.
And if you get the leader, well then the others turn back to normal.

Supernatural 11x04 - First time the leaders head got cut off.

What I find strange is, they had to die in order to become a ghoul, but after Dean cured the pack, they were all alive and well like nothing had happened? How does that work?
All in all a good episode though. And yes The Darkness is Coming! Sounds a bit like "Winter is coming" no?

Well that was it. Have a nice Halloween weekend peeps

Grey's Anatomy

Last week I said that it was time to forgive Shonda Rhimes. Now I ask you: "Can I take it back?" I still think that she is trying to make up for what happened last year. And last weeks episode really had the feels, I was going to write about it, but then something happened here, and I didn't get the chance too, and afterwards well the feels were gone, so I didn't want to bring it back up.

**CAUTION** SPOILER ALERT This entry contains spoilers of Grey's Anatomy 12x05

Somehow I must have repressed the scene last week where Penelope Blake (played by Samantha Sloyan) got introduced as Callie's new girlfriend. When I started this episode and they started with showing the end of last week, the only emotion I had was anger. I was upset, maybe I'm still a little upset.

Grey's Anatomy 12x05 - Meet Penny

Last year she failed to safe mc dreamy :'(, of course I know why, but still, it hurts, and the whole episode I waited for Meredith (played by Ellen Pompeo) to explode. Instead it was Amelia (played by Caterina Scorsone) who eventually ended up exploding.

Grey's Anatomy 12x05 - Amelia finds out Penny was the surgeon who didn't save Derek

This was not an episode like any other. This was a heartbreaking episode, where a lot of people got crushed. And when I heard that Penny was going to become a new resident I became even more angry, this time I didn't feel Amelia's or Merediths anger. This time it was my own. I'm angry at Shonda Rhimes.

And this is what I would like to say:

Dear Mrs Rhimes,
Why do you do this to your fans? Even though we were angry at you for what you pulled last year, we stuck it out, because we don't want to abandon the other actors, they didn't have to pay for your foolishness. But how the hell did you decide to add Penny to the cast?  What did you think? Hey lets torture the fans a bit, by making them relive that horrible death of their favorite character? Because that is what you did with this episode. Maybe you tried to make up for the horrible written scenario last year. Well I am sorry, but you failed.
Please Mrs Rhimes, you said you'd bring the series back to season 1, so far I haven't noticed this at all. We are counting on you to try harder. Don't screw over a series that is running for 12 seasons.

From A dedicated Fan
Kate

Much more didn't happen. Except that I saw a glimmer of light for Jackson (played by Jesse Williams) and April (played by Sarah Drew) I might be mistaken, but the way they were talking and the way he was concerned about her during Dishes, somehow gave me the feeling that they might get back together. What I really really hope. We need some good news in this series.

Grey's Anatomy 12x05 - Doing Dishes
That is it for today. I'm going to go play some Guildwars 2: Heart of Thorns now, to relax and try to forget this tragedy. See you next time!

The Flash

So, for the past few days workers from the green department have been working outside my building, making that I cannot sleep during long enough in the morning. So this past morning to pass the time, because I was to tired to do anything else, I binge watched way to many series to be good :p But oh well. And from all of those I picked The Flash to discuss today.
I know I had said that I was going to write every day, but blame Hollywood, they just don't bring out enough good episodes I can be passionate about. Lately most series have been so so, with a few outstanding exceptions. The Flash 2x03 was one of those.

**CAUTION** SPOILER ALERT This entry contains spoilers from The Flash 2x03

Last nights episode starts off with a boom, a lot of action, Iris West (played by Candice Patton) is in a tight spot and almost gets killed, but still somehow managed to call Barry Allen aka The Flash (played by Grant Gustin) who then of course like every white knight, comes to her rescue.
Good opener.

The Flash 2x03 - Iris calling Barry for help

What also made it score points Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold (played by Wentworth Miller) was back. And I have to admit, I have been a fan, ever since Prison Break. Oooh do I wish you liked girls... But trailing off... So he was back, just like his sister. Cisco (played by Carlos valdes) his heart was probably making salto's inside.
Plot of the story, Daddy Captain Cold (played by Michael Ironside) likes to put bombs in peoples heads. Puts one in his own daughter - seriously how sick do you have to be to do that, probably didn't like the fact she was a girl - and then forced his son to work with him, or he'd activate the bomb, which meant that her head would go kabloomi. So not good. Captain Cold does what he says and even gets help from Barry. While the others try to safe Lisa Snart (played by Peyton List)
Ofcourse at the end of the day, this is still The Flash and not Arrow , all ends well, Lisa gets saved, Leonard goes to prison, and Daddy cold dies.
And all is back to normal, well, until next week.

The Flash 2x03 - Captain Cold freezing The Flash

But all this gets broken through abit with some serious tear jerking scenes between Iris and her father (played by Jesse L Martin). Apparently Joe has been lying for several years to his daughter about her mom. Making her believe that she was dead.
Joe is very afraid that he'll loose Iris and asks Barry for advice. Barry tells him to just come clean, what is in my opinion always the best option, no matter how hard it hurts, the truth will always prevail. And that is what happened here. Joe eventually pulled all his courage together and told Iris, while completely breaking down. But instead of loosing her, she embraced him. It was the most touching moment of the whole episode.

The Flash 2x03 - Iris embracing Joe

And then there was the tears between the universes. I have said it before, I am not a fan of that new storyline. At least I wasn't. But now my curiosity got peaked. Dr. Wells (played by Tom Cavanagh) is back!
And before I forget, what is going on with the good Dr. Martin Stein (played by Victor Garber) will he become a new Firestorm?

The Flash 2x03 - Dr Wells returns

What do you think will happen Flashies? Discuss below!

Castle

I admit, I'm a fan of Nathan Fillion. Of course I've never met him in real life, and I probably never will, but whenever I see him, is it in Castle, or Firefly, or in a random interview, there is always somewhat of a warm personality that flows through it. I doubt that is something you can fake. So until proven otherwise, in my head Nathan Fillion is a nice, bit of a man-child man.

**CAUTION** SPOILER ALERT This entry contains spoilers of Castle 8x05

I picked today's episode to write about because I can relate to the eyewitness. Luckily for me my smell isn't as advanced as hers. But advanced enough to smell a fire 3 km away or to smell the exact spot of cat/dog pee on a dark carpet. And believe me when I say, for me it is already a curse. No one can enter my house if they are wearing perfume. People who know me, avoid wearing perfume around me. Even when they put it on in the morning and I only see them 7 hours later. I get migraines.
I can imagine that for a lot of people today's episode was bullshit. That it'll be hard to understand that you really can pick someone out of a line up just by smelling them. But it can be done.

Castle 8x05 - sniffing the lineup

Now that you know that this really can be, you might be wondering what was up with that nosering. In the beginning I was wondering as well why that was, and if I recall right, they never really explained the use of the nosering, they just zoomed in on it a few times, making her look even more weird. Well, ladies and gentlemen, the reason is simple. Whenever I go somewhere, I always carry a scarf with me, if it smells, I can simply put it on, put a layer over my nose and breath through that. Like that, the smells get pushed back and the smell of my scarf is what I'll smell most. That is exactly what that nosering is. By putting that nosering in, she always will smell the metal of the ring first. What makes that even though she can still smell very well, the metal numbs it a bit.
There is a particular scene, when she takes of her nosering in order to smell the people in the lineup when you see her getting overwhelmed  by all the horrible smells in the room. A cacophony of smells.

Ok enough about smells and noserings, lets move on.
A few weeks ago I read an interview with one of the producers from Castle that said that breaking up Beckett and Castle was the best option for keeping the storyline fresh.
I would agree to that if we would see what Beckett is actually doing now that she left Castle, because she didn't leave him because she didn't love him anymore, she left him because she is on a mission and doesn't want to endanger him. So I was looking forward to see more solo Beckett action this season, but instead Beckett was put more to the background while Castle gets more solo action alongside Esposito and Ryan.

I don't know about you but either show more Beckett solo or just bring them back together already. This is torture for Castle and it's not fair.

What do you think Castlefans? Leave a message after the beep... Tuuuuuuuuuuuut
